The majority of us are aware of the ever increasing food crisis in the UK as more and more people are slipping into food poverty and insecurity and facing an increasing reliance on food banks, pantries, soup kitchens and other means to be able to feed themselves and their families.
Many thousands of people are skipping meals regularly, a reality that simply should not be happening right now, or in fact any time.
The Food Foundation’s excellent series of commentary, Breadline Voices, has insight from people involved in and affected by all aspects of this desperate situation.
From food bank users and volunteers to professionals such as teachers and doctors who see first-hand the devastating impact the cost of living has on people it is a distressing and sobering read but a necessary one if governments and those more fortunate are to understand and act to prevent any further decline and to help ensure we get away from this terrible situation.
