STILL GOOD FOOD
Still Good Food are a fantastic Suffolk based organisation doing as much as they can to ensure that potentially wasted food is collected and distributed.
They do this in two ways :
Firstly they have two shops in Bury St Edmunds and nearby Great Barton. The food can come from any number of sources and they operate on ‘Pay as you feel’ donation system with anybody most welcome to come and see what is on offer. Staffed by fantastic volunteers it not only provides food but also an opportunity for engagement and conversation amongst its members.
Secondly Still Good Food are very active in the world of gleaning and marshalled by the fabulous Roz Scott they are out and about in all weathers as and when they get the call from local farmers that there are rich pickings to be had. It is a fine example of a local gleaning group that is expanding as more farmers come on board and welcome them through the fam gate.
As is the norm these days, the availability of this perfectly good fruit and veg is often due to the cosmetic criteria that supermarkets have which leads to rejected produce.
We are so happy to have been able to provide them with collection sacks and are really looking forward to helping[ing out further in the future and to keep promoting the great act of gleaning to ensure that even more food is saved from going to waste.
